CLUB SPOTLIGHT

The inaugural Club Spotlight for a USATF Pacific registered club is about a relatively new running club, the Women's Run Club East Bay. Enjoy reading about their energy and programs on this profile.  Visit their lively Instagram page (wrceastbay) and their website  http://wrceastbay.org/ to learn more and be inspired!
Club Location: East Bay communities, i.e Oakland, Berkeley, Alameda, Fremont, Walnut Creek, Richmond, etc.)
Date Established: December 2022.
Primary Purpose: We are a community run club that supports runners from all backgrounds and ability levels in the East Bay. Our group runs are based on the interests of our members, and we we have people running the gamut of road, trail, cross-country, etc. As a club, we also do social events and volunteer events in the community, like trash pickups or youth running groups (one example: Running for a Better Oakland).
Other: Potlucks and social events, cross-training together activities (strength training, biking, swimming).
Team member shoutout: Anita Tung who crushed it in her first ultra and placed 2nd at the 2022 Rio del Lago 50k!
Fun facts about the team and its members:

  • Many of us are new Moms. The club was founded by 3 Moms, 2 of whom have babies under 1.
  • We have raised over $5,000 in donations for Youth ALIVE! Instagram Page
Club Contact: The best way to contact us is on Instagram (wrceastbay). We also have a website http://wrceastbay.org
