PA Race Walk Grand Prix Championship Events with Results and Standings, and a listing of clinics, youth, all comers, northern California, and national Race Walk events.

The USATF Pacific Association race walking committee hopes to have five Grand Prix events scheduled for the 2019 season: 1-mile on January 19, tentatively One-Hour on March 31, tentatively 5,000-meter on June 2, 3,000-meter on June 15, and 10-kilometer tentatively on September 29 or October 6. Here are the final Grand Prix standings for the 2018 season; these will be replaced with the 2019 standings after the first race of the new season.

There were four Grand Prix events for the 2018 season: 1-mile on January 20, 3,000-meter on March 24, 5,000-meter on June 10, and 10-kilometer on October 7. Here are the final Grand Prix standings for the 2018 season.

There will be Introduction to Race Walk Judging and Officiating clinics in early 2019: Saturday, 12 January 2019 at American River College in Sacramento, and Saturday, 9 February 2019 in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Saturday, 19 January 2019 – One-Mile Race Walk Grand Prix, University of California, Berkeley track

The women’s race will begin at 10:30 a.m. and be followed by the men’s race. Please arrive by no later than 10:00. The race walks are part of the Cal All Comers track and field meet and can provide qualifying times for the Milrose Games (9 February 2019 in New York City). Please see the Cal Track website for entry information. The race walk will be sponsored by the Pacific Racewalking Organization.

Tentatively Sunday, 31 March 2019 – One-Hour Race Walk Grand Prix, Bay Area

Location in the Bay Area to be determined. The race will be on track, starting at 9:00 a.m.; please arrive at least 30 minutes beforehand. In addition, there will be a one-hour Power Walk, following U.S. Power Walking Association Rules. These races will be hosted by the Pacific Racewalking Organization.

Tentatively Sunday, 2 June 2019 – 5,000-meter Grand Prix, Bay Area

Location in the Bay Area to be determined. The race will be on track, starting at 9:00 a.m.; please arrive at least 30 minutes beforehand. The race will be on track, starting at 8:00 a.m.; please arrive at least 30 minutes beforehand. The race will be a combined women’s and men’s race as part of the USATF Pacific Association Track and Field Championships.

Saturday, 15 June 2019 – 3,000-meter Grand Prix, Grass Valley

Grass Valley, California. The women’s race walk will be on track, starting at 11:00 a.m.. The men’s race will follow immediately afterward. A 3,000-meter power walk (combined women and men) will follow the men’s race walk. Please arrive at least one hour before your race. These races will be part of the Sierra Gold Masters/Open Track and Field Festival.

Tentatively Sunday, 29 September or 6 October 2019 – 10-kilometer Race Walk Grand Prix, Sacramento area

William B. Pond Recreation Area, 5700 Arden Way, Carmichael, CA 95608. Turn right upon entering the park and pay the $5 parking fee. The race starts at 9:00 a.m.; please arrive before 8:45, when the road will be blocked off for the races. In addition, there will be a 3-kilometer Power Walk starting at 10:30 am and following the U.S. Power Walking Association Rules. These races are hosted by the Sierra Race Walkers; Joe Berendt is the Race Director.

Saturday, 5 August 2017 – DIVERSITY RELAYS – SPECIAL NOTE. Joaquin Miller Park, 3300 Joaquin Miller Road, Oakland, California.
11:45-1:00pm BBQ lunch and multi-lingual sharing; Pacific Association backpacks given to new USATF members. The objective was to introduce new athletes from diverse backgrounds to USATF. We had a good turnout for race walking (12 people), and Nicki Goldman gave a terrific clinic on race-walking technique.
1:10pm-1:45pm Race Walk Clinic for everyone.
2:00pm-3:00pm: Race Walk Relays. Records were set for the first Pacific Association 4×50-meter race walk shuttle relay (1’17.85″) and the 2×100-meter race walk shuttle relay (1’13.00″).
