At the December USATF Annual Meeting the USATF Board of Directors elected Stephanie Hightower as the USATF candidate for the IAAF Council over veteran Bob Hersh who had the overwhelming support of membership. At the 20 January USATF Pacific BoA meeting, the Board of Athletics voted to submit a letter on behalf of the entire BoA. A work group of Don Collins, Tom Bernard, and Bob Thompson were assigned the task of word crafting a letter which was submitted to the Pacific BoD for review, before being sent to the USATF Board of Directors 21 February.
