LDR MEETING MINUTES

Meeting called to order at 11:27 am
**Minutes from the October 18 Humboldt meeting were unanimously approved.

SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS

Ultra 2004 Grand Prix Schedule: only one event has a pending scheduling
change. Schedule unanimously approved

Cross Country
Note : Regional championship, hosted by SoCal Association at Mt. Sac, is
again one week before the PA XC Championships.
**Penalty Motion approved with one opposed and one abstention: "If runners
go off course due to event management negligence as determined by the LDR
Committee, a penalty of up to $500 may be imposed on that race."

SPONSORSHIP/LDR MONEY
a) Try Shooting Star Media
b) Set up a special LDR fund and ask for donations - Need a volunteer to
work with this.
c) Irene Herman received a $2,000 grant from the national USATF
organization
for a membership drive at the Olympic T&F Trials. She will purchase little
stuffed clip-on bears and they will be given to anyone who joins USATF at
the Trials.
**Motion passed with one abstention: an additional 500 to 600 bears will be
purchased with $1500 from LDR funds and will be sold at the Trials or at
Youth Meets or other competitions at a profit for an LDR fundraiser.
[Note: At the subsequent PA Board of Athletics meeting, this change in the
use of our grand prix funds was not allowed, but money was allocated from
the Marketing Committee budget for this purpose.]

BANQUET
Awardees list must be submitted by Tuesday Jan. 12.
Reservations must be in by Jan. 24.
 
VOLUNTEERS
For Board of Athletics representatives, STILL need two more women.

2004 ROAD GRAND PRIX SCHEDULE
1) CIM is in. Date is December 5.
2) Fleet Feet Mile date set for July 11.
3) Humboldt date of October 17 is still tentative.

ELITE ATHLETE BIOS
Elite athlete bio form must be filled out by February 15. Need to send a
broadcast e-mail reminder.

TRAVEL FUNDS
**Unanimously passed that for the Short Distance Section $250 will be
awarded to top female at the Zippy 5K for travel to Freihofers 10K
national championship; $250 to be awarded to top male at Heritage Oaks
Banks 10K for travel to the Mobile, Alabama Senior Bowl 10K national
championship.
**Unaninmously passed that for the Long Distance Section $250 will be
awarded and divided among the women and $250 will be awarded and divided
among the men who are traveling to their Olympic Trials Marathon events.
The
total of the monies to be so divided is now $500 each for men and for women
since the 2003 Long Distance Section funds were also awarded this way.

YEAR END AWARDS
Actual awards are to be determined by LDR chairs.

2003 XC STANDINGS
**Approved unanimously to award Fletcher Lesley race points based on his
position at the moment that he selflessly stopped to assist fallen Ed
Mooney (almost 5/6 of the way through the course). This moved Mr. Lesley
one spot up in the final
standings.

RULE CHANGES
To be voted on this year for enactment in 2005 - Super Senior Awards
    a) each race winner gets $25
    b) season end team winner gets $150
    c) Comp top three places in the season end standings for the following
year's races
[Note: We will have to establish the source of the money at the next
meeting.]
 
CAL 10 DATE DEBATE
Send out a survey that asks LDR members which date they prefer: 2nd Sunday
in January or 3rd Sunday in February.

BANQUET QUESTION
Comps? Would mean 12 people. NO.

HERITAGE OAKS 10K
Sympathy card to be sent to Mitch Massey from the LDR Committee expressing
condolences about the earthquake damage.
Lloyd Stephenson volunteered to work with Mitch to improve the race.
