Many parents and student athletes are unaware of the NCAA Eligibility Center process, which is the gateway to collegiate athletic participation. As a result, Qualified Athletes was formed. The goal of QA is to educate student athletes, parents, counselors and coaches about the NCAA process in order to increase college eligibility.
Qualified Athletes is an organization providing academic analysis, education planning, and NCAA application advising to student athletes. QA works with school districts, youth athletic organizations and families. QA assess the students academic status and ensures they are taking the appropriate CORE courses required for NCAA eligibility.
Qualified Athletes serves as a resource to student athletes for SAT/ACT test preparation and tutorial services. QA acts as a conduit between the student athlete and the NCAA to ensure all requirements are met. Moreover, student athletes who are unaware of the process are well educated, increasing their ability to clear the clearinghouse. As a result, the student athletes increase their chance of college admissions, college selection, and allow receipt of athletic scholarships.
Cheri Spigner, Founder of Qualified Athletes
I established Qualified Athletes to fill the knowledge gap of the NCAA Eligibility Center process. I have personally assisted several students through this process and contributed to their successful graduation from high school to their admission to Division 1 and Division 2 Colleges, many on athletic scholarships.
My own daughters, Julian and Ashton Purvis, are current student athletes on athletic scholarships and NCAA qualifiers, attending University of Michigan and University of Miami, respectively.
Division 1 college coaches have shared with me their frustration with the recruiting process and the lack of knowledge behind the NCAA process. The common denominator is a lack of parental involvement, lack of school counselor time to assist athletes in this process, and a general ignorance of the nuances that affect the student athletes process.
I love sports and always wanted to be a sports broad caster. I couple this passion, along with my knowledge of this process and hands on experience, to successfully coach student athletes through this rigorous process. I believe every student athlete should leverage their athletic ability to further their education.
