Omine, Binder Help U.S. Bring Home Silver at World 100K Championships!

At the IAU World 100K championships in Gibraltar on November 7th, Chikara Omine from New Balance Excelsior based in San Francisco (also a city resident) hammered home a 19-minute PR in a remarkable time of 6:58.09, good enough for 9th place overall/2nd American in the international field. Berkeley-based runner Joe Binder of the Strawberry Canyon Track Club (also located in Berkeley) placed a strong 25th overall in his first try at the 100K distance. His time of 7:16.43 also automatically qualifies him for next year's IAU 100K competiton. The Americans also brought home hardware, as Chikara and Joe both won silver team medals.
